MORE JOY

"Selena is the model that personifies this collection for us and brings it to life in the campaign," says Christopher Kane. "We needed somebody that felt strong, somebody with a strength of character to match the strength of the clothes, where sex was about power and provocation rather than flirtation. Selena has that magnetism and prescence that is almost confrontational, but she's just an incredible and lovely girl. She's a teenager, originally from Louisiana via LA, but she is already somebody who totally knows her own mind. In a way, she was our version of Cathy Tyson in the campaign; More Joy for a dark mood."

Featuring the American model Selena Forrest, with photography by Alasdair McLellan, the latest Christopher Kane campaign confronts the viewer with a purposefully austere interpretation of More Joy. Shot in London, and utilising many of the original film locations for Antonioni's Blow-Up, the same sense of a dark heart in the midst of a shining, swinging city prevails and was inspired by some of the still photography of that film. 

Presented mainly in stark black and white, the collection with its armour like sleeves, jewel-encrusted cage constructions, and flocked, coated lace, is purposefully posed in the reality of the everyday. Although it's an everyday synthesised, stylised and inspired by Antonioni's film...
